What Class 150 means in service
ASME B16.5 Class 150 is a pressure class, not a single pressure number: the allowable pressure falls as temperature rises. For ASTM A105 in material group 1.1 the rating is 285 psi (19.6 bar) at 38 °C (100 °F), and the applicable value must be read from the pressure–temperature tables in B16.5 for the actual design temperature. The 12″ Class 150 slip-on flange in this page is therefore specified by size and class, and the gasket, bolting and pipe schedule are selected to match.
The 12 bolts on a 431.8 mm circle are sized to develop the gasket seating load without over-stressing the flange ring. Use the bolt hole diameter of Ø25.4 mm with a bolt one size smaller, and follow the cross-pattern tightening sequence in ASME PCC-1 for a leak-free joint.
